More than 1,600 Harley-Davidson 105th riders ride the Lake Express high speed ferry

More than 1,600 riders rode the Lake Express high speed ferry during the course of the Harley-Davidson 105th Anniversary celebration held in Milwaukee August 27-31, 2008.
The Harley-Davidson 105th Anniversary actually started early as the ride home kicked off with the Lake Express and a group headed by Willie G. Davidson heading out on the Lake Express, heading toward New York before turning around to ride home to Milwaukee. Milwaukee television station CBS58 was on hand to report on the departure. Just a few short days later, Harley-Davidson riders began to arrive by the hundreds after crossing Lake Michigan on the Lake Express. Some of the first to arrive were a group from Novi, Michigan who came across the Lake Express a few days prior to the official kick off events in Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was on hand (click to read) to greet them and photograph their arrival.
As the number of riders has grown, entire trips across the lake have become part of the celebration with hundreds of bikers and their motorcycles using the Lake Express to beat the traffic and congestion of Chicago on their way to and from the events in Milwaukee.
WISN in Milwaukee was on hand (click to watch) to greet one of the largest groups to cross Lake Michigan headed to the 105th and also posted a photo gallery at WISN.com. WTMJ 4 also reported on the arrival. CBS58 included video (click to watch) of the arrival with their reporting on the kick off of the 105th celebration.
