The Lake Express High Speed Ferry offers great seasonal employment – both full time and part time. If you can work late March through October, excel in customer service and reliability, and are looking for a unique and fun employment experience, then we would like you to apply. Our seasonal jobs pay between $10 and $13 per hour. Some higher skilled positions even pay more. Some jobs are onboard the ship; others shore side. All involve your attention to safety and providing our passengers with the best travel experience!

Lake Express is in its 5th operating season and we are in need of over 50 reliable, friendly, responsible crewmembers to work as:

• Reservations/Customer Service Representatives
• Maintenance Technicians
• Stewards
• Yard Crew

Most positions require weekend work. We offer varying start times, including early mornings and evenings. These positions work from the Milwaukee Lake Express Terminal located at 2330 S. Lincoln Memorial Drive.

Milwaukee, WI:
The Lake Express High Speed Ferry offers seasonal and year round career opportunities for experienced mariners. LE is starting its 5th season of service between Milwaukee, WI and Muskegon, MI.

The ship, built by Austral USA, is the first high speed car/passenger catamaran to operate on the Great Lakes. It is 191x57x16 FT, 96 GRT (1,757 ITC), and is USCG certified for 400 passengers and 46 vehicles. It is equipped with four MTU V16 M70 engines producing 12, 444 HP, computerized ride control, ARPA equipped 3 &10 mm radars, fire suppressant systems, GPS, ECDIS and a computerize engine room monitoring systems.

The Lake Express also seeks the following additions to staff due to growth:

* Master (Full time, Seasonal and Year Round) – Operate the ship and direct onboard activities including repairs and inspections. Enhance benchmark status. Ensure the safety and security of passengers, cargo and crew. Reports to the Senior Captain. Candidates must hold, as a minimum, a valid USCG Master’s License for Vessels of 100 Gross Tons or more, an Unlimited Radar Observer’s Certificate with an ARPA endorsement, Advanced Firefighting certification, and CPR, AED and First Aid certificates. BRM and additional credentials desired. Applicants must have experience as Master, excellent ship handling skills and an outstanding safety record. High-speed quad jet and Lake Michigan experience highly preferred. Rotational watch involves early mornings, late evenings, and/or weekends.

* Mate (Full time, March – October) – Supervises eight member crew. Serves as Cargo Mate and VSO. Withstanding duties. Reports to and assists Master as directed. Candidates must hold, as a minimum, a valid USCG Master or Mate’s License for Vessels of 100 Gross Tons or more, an Unlimited Radar Observer’s Certificate, Advanced Firefighting and CPR, AED and First Aid certificates. Previous quad jet and Lake Michigan experience preferred. This position is seasonal. Rotational watch involves early mornings, late evenings, and/or weekends. Day rate starts at $170.

* Propulsion Technical (Full time, year round) – Maintain vessel systems to specifications. Perform preventive maintenance on engines, generators, reduction gears, water jets, and support equipment. Position reports to Port Engineer. 1+ marine diesel mechanic experience required. Knowledge of water jets highly preferred. Must be familiar with computers and MS Office.
