WANTED – Professional, friendly, reliable, customer-service oriented individuals are wanted for unique and exciting seasonal positions with the Lake Express High Speed ferry service.
Lake Express, LLC is a Milwaukee, WI based company offering High Speed Auto-Passenger ferry service between the Ports of Milwaukee, WI and Muskegon MI. The service operates seven days per week on a seasonal basis, from May through the end of October, and offers four to six crossings per day. Please see our official schedule for details.
We offer a wide variety of unique employment opportunities onboard our Milwaukee-based ship, in our Milwaukee Terminal, and in our Muskegon Terminal.
Hourly pay rates range from $10.00 to $14.50 per hour and most positions are 30 to 40 hours per week; and may include first and/or second shaft, holidays and weekends. Competitive day rates for U. S. Coast Guard licensed mariners.
Our Seasonal Employment Periods are:
a. April 16, 2012 through Nov 4, 2012 (subject to minor variation)
b. June 25, 2012 through Sept 7, 2012 (subject to minor variation)

The Lake Express also seeks the following additions to staff due to growth:
* Master (Full time, Seasonal and Year Round) – Operate the ship and direct onboard activities including repairs and inspections. Enhance benchmark status. Ensure the safety and security of passengers, cargo and crew. Reports to the Senior Captain. Candidates must hold, as a minimum, a valid USCG Master’s License for Vessels of 100 Gross Tons or more, an Unlimited Radar Observer’s Certificate with an ARPA endorsement, Advanced Firefighting certification, and CPR, AED and First Aid certificates. BRM and additional credentials desired. Applicants must have experience as Master, excellent ship handling skills and an outstanding safety record. High-speed quad jet and Lake Michigan experience highly preferred. Rotational watch involves early mornings, late evenings, and/or weekends.
* Mate (Full time, April – October) – Supervises eight member crew. Serves as Cargo Mate and VSO. Withstanding duties. Reports to and assists Master as directed. Candidates must hold, as a minimum, a valid USCG Master or Mate’s License for Vessels of 100 Gross Tons or more, an Unlimited Radar Observer’s Certificate with ARPA endorsement, Advanced Firefighting and CPR, AED and First Aid certificates. BRM and additional credentials desired. Previous quad jet and Lake Michigan experience preferred. This position is seasonal. Rotational watch involves early mornings, late evenings, and/or weekends. Day rate starts at $170.
