The ship's length is equivalent to 3.5 tractor-trailers placed end to end, and the ship is as wide as five lanes of interstate highway. Stretching 192 feet long and 57 feet wide, it has the capacity to carry 46 cars and 250 passengers.
- What are the safety features of Lake Express?
Lake Express is among the most modern and safe vessels navigating upon the Great Lakes. The ship has been built to strict U.S. Coast Guard regulations and is regularly inspected by that agency. It is equipped with advanced electronic navigation and firefighting systems and is fitted with an active, computer controlled ride system to help dampen unwanted vessel rolling motions when crossing the lake. The vessel's twin, compartmentalized hulls provide significant reserve buoyancy and great stability. The vessel is further equipped with life raft capacity for 400 persons. The ship's four engines provide a high degree of redundancy, enabling the ship to continue its voyage even in the unlikely event of shutting down one engine.

Enterprise car rental page of this website for more information and to book your rental in advance.
- Are taxis available?
Taxis line up at our Milwaukee terminal as the boat comes into harbor. The ride from our terminal to downtown Milwaukee is a straight shot less than two miles long, so the fare should be relatively inexpensive. Taxis may also be called to pick you up at the Muskegon terminal.
- Is parking available near the Milwaukee terminal? What about near the Muskegon terminal?
Short and long term parking is available at both of our terminals in
Milwaukee and Muskegon. Daily parking rates are posted at each of the terminals.

If you are traveling without a vehicle and already have a ticket, we ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure. If you are taking a vehicle, you must arrive at least 45 minutes before departure.
The ship does get extremely full and frequently sells out, especially during the busy summer months, so we recommend you do buy tickets well in advance. However, occasionally tickets are available the day of the voyage. If you would like to try to buy walk-up tickets for the same day, we ask that you arrive at least 45 minutes in advance to the scheduled departure time.

Yes, in the stern (back) of the ship. We also have a wonderful, open sun deck on top of the ship.
